Jimmie A. Parker Sr. is a conductor, educator, and visionary leader whose work sits at the intersection of performance, education, and institutional design. Known for his dynamic presence on the podium and his ability to unify diverse musical forces, Parker is the Music Director and Conductor of the Euclid Symphony Orchestra, where he leads innovative programming that bridges classical tradition with contemporary and culturally rooted repertoire.
Parker holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition, magna cum laude, from Cleveland State University (2020), and a Master of Music in Music Composition from Cleveland State University (2023). He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership at Ashland University, with an anticipated completion in 2028.
As a Professor of Digital Music Composition and Production at Case Western Reserve University, Parker prepares the next generation of musicians and creators through forward-thinking, technology-integrated instruction. His work in education extends beyond the university, as he teaches music fundamentals in urban school settings and designs scalable curricula that connect theory, performance, and real-world application.
Parker’s leadership extends nationally through his service on the Board of Directors for the American Composers Forum (St. Paul, Minneapolis), where he contributes to advancing opportunities for composers and contemporary music initiatives.
In sacred and community music, Parker serves as Minister of Music for the Greater Cincinnati Choral Union, part of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, and holds key artistic roles across Ohio, including Artist-in-Residence at First Church of God in Columbus and Musical/Band Director at Lincoln Heights Baptist Church in Cincinnati. In these roles, he is not only a director, but a builder—developing choirs, training musicians, and establishing sustainable music ministry infrastructures.
Beyond the podium and classroom, Parker is the Founder and CEO of the Colour of Music Institute, an organization dedicated to expanding access to high-level music education and artistic development. His work centers on creating pathways for emerging musicians—particularly those from underrepresented communities—to engage deeply with both classical and gospel traditions.
A composer, arranger, and thought leader, Parker is the author of The Minstrel’s Mantle and is currently completing Sound Doctrine, a work exploring the philosophy, structure, and future of music leadership and ministry.
Through every facet of his work, Jimmie A. Parker Sr. is committed to one mission: building systems that develop people, elevate artistry, and transform communities through music.
